Back to Linux
Well, Windows has crashed on me for the last time. I re-installed 2 weeks ago to emergency fix a problem so that I could burn a bunch of DVD’s for Leah’s graduation, and now it’s dead again. Same problem, different hard drive. I conclude that this is either the fault of the motherboard or Windows. And given that I am writing this post in a fully functioning Linux environment, on the older of the two drives, I cast my vote for Windows.
I ran Linux for years and years, finally settling on Ubuntu as distro of choice, after loving the Debian family of distros my entire life. I also found the final component of my killer apps for windows….a SQL management tool (called “Aqua Data Studio”). Now that I have a replacement for this app, there is really nothing stopping me from doing everything that I can do on Windows on Linux. And though I will admit that there are still some things that will be difficult once again, I am ready to accept the challenge to move forward towards better things in the OS world. I am looking forward to a fresh start with software that doesn’t suck.
Hopefully, I won’t find the path as hard as I did the first time. But if I install less than once every 2 weeks, the progress is being made.
